Marketing Success Begins With Community Relations

Mike Pickel Marketing Plan
January 25, 2021 at 6:00 a.m.

RCS Influencer Mike Pickel says the key to success in your community starts with how you support each other.

When we founded Texas Traditions Roofing, we knew that giving back to our community would be something that we would always dedicate time to. We don’t do it for the recognition, or to pat ourselves on the back. We do it because it is the right thing to do. A lot of a business’ success is due to the support from their local community. Without your community being willing to use your services, you wouldn’t be in business.

Last year, we hired a full-time marketing coordinator whose main goal is to continue to build those relationships within our community. She actively reaches out to local nonprofits to learn ways that we can become involved. We support our veterans, the youth in our community and other worthy causes through both monetary donations as well as through labor and materials in some cases. We also do more than just give money. We show up. We volunteer. We build those relationships with the people and organizations within our community.

We have found that you are rewarded even more when you give back. Not only does giving back bring feelings of accomplishment, knowing you had the ability to take solace in the fact that you have helped another person, but it also demonstrates your commitment to the communities where you continue to build your business. This speaks volumes to potential customers – especially here in Texas where we see a lot of hailstorms that draw in out-of-town roofers who want to make a quick buck and then chase the next storm. People are more often going to choose to work with the contractor who is also their neighbor, who supports their community and who will still be here for them if future problems should occur down the road.

Even if you don’t have a formal marketing plan in place, the best place to get started is to look to your local service area and decide how you can support your community.
