Roofing Company Graciously Donates New Roof to Nonprofit

RCS Horch Donates Roof
October 23, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

Horch Roofing gifts a new roof to Trekkers, a youth-development nonprofit organization that has always been there for its community.

Trekkers has been a long-standing youth-development organization in Maine for over 25 years. They help the local youths by teaching them how to strengthen their connections with the community and with themselves. Although the programs they offer mostly operate in outdoor settings, they recently bought a new indoor office space that was in need of a roof.

When Trekkers reached out to Horch Roofing to request a new roof, they were delighted to find that many of those who worked for the contracting company were alumni of their organization.

Although Horch Roofing had shied away from donating roofs in the past, the company’s relationship with Trekkers changed their minds. After hearing how many of their employees value what Trekkers does for their community, they had a change of heart.

Kelli Russomano, Horch’s finance coordinator, not only was a part of the organization when she was younger, but she currently has two of her children in the program as well. Russomano was a key voice in Horch Roofing’s decision to donate the roof to Trekkers. She told Pen Bay Pilot, “I wanted to make sure Horch knew it was important to me, and they listened.”

It was because of employees like Russomano that Horch roofing decided to make this generous donation. “Employees who were a part of Trekkers are a very vocal group,” says Market Coordinator Alexi Frey. “We support Trekkers based in a large part on their wishes.”

With this new roof, Trekkers can continue their beneficial work with the comfort of knowing that the community has their back. Trekkers Executive Director Amie Hutchison said, “It means so much that it was driven by Trekkers families for Trekkers families. We are all so grateful to be able to say that Trekkers is possible because of the generosity of those who give back.”

Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
