NRCA Roof Application Training
February 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Train as many workers as possible with these quality educational programs that transform inexperienced workers to skilled foremen.

Training for Roof Application Careers (TRAC) was created by National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) to address ongoing workforce issues in the roofing industry. Contractors can empower inexperienced field workers with TRAC for a thriving career to come.

All TRAC content is available in English and Spanish and, with NRCA’s recent price reduction for all TRAC packages, it’s the perfect time for every roofing company to utilize these quality training materials to turn inexperienced workers into skilled, long-term employees.

There are currently five TRAC packages available for purchase including

  • The asphalt shingle installation package includes steep-slope onboarding and has more than 20 hours of informative content. This educational package provides workers hands-on activities that will give them asphalt shingle installation experience they can take with them to the jobsite. Price: $249 member; $299 nonmember.

  • The foreman management training offers downloadable scenarios where participants are encouraged to discuss the best answers for their various work environments with their supervisors. Price: $499 member; $699 nonmember.

  • Thermoplastic roof membrane installation package includes more than 30 hours of online content and hands-on experience. This package also includes low-slope onboarding. Price: $299 member; $349 nonmember.

  • Steep-slope onboarding package includes more than 6 hours of online content.
    Price: $149 member; $199 nonmember.

TRAC combines online and hands-on training that transforms workers and roofing companies. More than 1,000 people have participated in TRAC trainings to become quality roof system installers. Through TRAC, workers become more confident and aware of what their job entails. The knowledge gained through these trainings empowers people to pursue a career in the roofing industry thus reducing the current industry workforce shortage.

TRAC also provides workers these additional skills

  • Helpful terminology to clarify communication between the foremen and crew members.

  • Familiarization with necessary roofing trade concepts.

  • The responsibilities and expectations of their job.

  • Hands-on experience included in the thermoplastic roof membrane and asphalt shingle installation packages.
