Discuss Issues that Affect your Daily Operations at Roofing Day

Michelle Boykin Roofing Day
March 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

RCS Influencer Michelle Boykin says that Roofing Day has become one of her favorite industry events. Here’s why.

My first year at Roofing Day, I was nervous and intimidated by the thought of meeting with members of Capitol Hill.  I didn’t need to worry for long because the NRCA made it easy, fun and educational. A training session was held the day before to help me know what to say and how to present the information to the senators and representatives while still using my own voice and sharing my own stories and experiences. They scheduled all of my congressional appointments and all I needed to do was follow my schedule.

It was exciting and impactful to be able to share with the senators and representatives from my state of Tennessee how issues that are universal within our industry, such as a diminishing work force, technology, and general business affect my company and our livelihood. Roofing Day in D.C. is now one of my favorite events of the year.

Roofing Day is one of the best ways to make your voice heard in a powerful way.  Roofing industry professionals from around the nation have the opportunity to discuss legislative issues affecting our day-to-day operations and ultimately, our bottom lines.  We have already seen an impact from previous years, and the greater presence we show, the bigger voice we have.

This is a chance for you to build a relationship with your congressmen and women, your representatives, and other leaders in your industry to discuss issues that ultimately affect your daily operations.  There is no better way to help determine the future of your business, and the future of the roofing industry.

As business owners, you need to attend this impactful event.  In addition, think about who else from your business would benefit from joining you.  The more people in attendance, and the more diverse a group we show, the more impact we will have as a whole.

This year is sure to be another favorite as the National Roofing Contractors Association, National Women in Roofing, and the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce have created a Diversity and Inclusion Forum to be held on April 21, immediately preceding Roofing Day.  This forum was created to educate on the importance of diversity and a culture of inclusion as a way to strengthen the roofing workforce.

I’m going to be at Roofing Day in D.C. to represent the roofing industry on Capitol Hill.   Will you join me?
