Beacon Canada Kicks off Nationwide Beacon of Hope Contest to Support Veterans

Beacon Canada Beacon of Hope for Veterans
November 17, 2020 at 6:00 a.m.

The public is encouraged to nominate a deserving veteran now through December 7th.

Beacon announced today the launch of its first annual Beacon of Hope contest, a nationwide contest awarding deserving veteran homeowners with safe roofs. As part of Beacon’s giving back to its communities, the contest is open to all military veterans, provided they have received an honorable or general discharge. The public can nominate a deserving veteran now through December 7th by visiting the Beacon of Hope website. Beacon is teaming up with veteran-friendly roofing companies to deliver and install all necessary roof repairs/replacement to one veteran home, and three runners-up will receive 2,500 CAD to help complete necessary repairs. The promotion is sponsored by IKO Manufacturing.

“We’re proud to honour Canadian veterans who have given so much to their country by launching this Beacon of Hope contest,” said Charles Michaud, VP of Canada. “Too many of our nation’s veterans face difficult hardships following their service, having a safe place to live shouldn’t be one of them. It is our privilege to give back to our veterans and their families.”

From November 2nd through December 7th, the public can nominate a Canadian veteran facing adversity at go.becn.com/BeaconOfHopeCanada or submit an e-mail to beaconofhopecanada@becn.com. Nominations must include one photo of the veteran and three photos of their home, along with a short bio of the veteran, which includes their military branch, years of service and why the nominee is deserving of a new roof.

Ten finalists will be announced in December, and the public will have an opportunity to vote for their favourite finalists. Beacon will announce the winner and runners-up in January 2021.
