Market is growing but competition demands strategies to grow your business.

The construction industry is growing and the roofing industry is no exception. But to ensure business growth, roofing contractors must (1) hire skilled workers, (2) stay informed and relevant, and (3) review pricing. Plus, as a bonus tip, contractors should upgrade tools and equipment.

  1. One of the largest issues the construction industry faces is a lack of skilled workers--which is why it is critical roofing contractors assemble a capable crew. Roofing contractors should thoroughly understand jurisdictional regulations. Different jurisdictions have different licensing requirements, which impact which who should be hired. Once workers are hired, training is still necessary to ensure the needed skills to take on projects.
  2. Companies must stay relevant to thrive. People engage in companies online and some will not do business with companies that do not have an Internet presence, so ensure a solid Internet presence in order to thrive. Also, connecting with associations (like the National Roofing Contractors Association) can keep a business educated and up-to-date on the latest trends, regulation changes, and innovative techniques.
  3. Review pricing to determine if roofing expenses and business activities are generating revenue. Set prices at fair market rates, but high enough to ensure profits.

Bonus: Upgrading tools and equipment so as to best comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Administration will ensure that your business is not cited for violating equipment standards.
