Cotney Construction Law Plan Helps Contractors Manage Legal Costs

Taking a cue from the software industry, legal subscription model helps contractors leverage legal services that are necessary to protect their interests and businesses.

I had the chance to speak with Ken Kelly, President of Kelly Roofing and RCS Influencer, at the AEC BuildTech conference held recently in Chicago, about a unique subscription plan his company takes advantage of through Cotney Construction Law.

In the interview, Ken says that before he met Trent Cotney, founder of Cotney Construction Law, he was terrified of attorneys. He thought all they were going to do was take your money and draw out cases just to try and make as much money as possible.  Then he met Trent through his involvement in industry associations. He saw that Trent was passionate about the roofing industry and was actually donating his services to the associations that help advance the industry and make it a better place. Ken knew that this was an attorney he wanted to work with.

Ken goes on to explain that after years of working together, Trent approached him about his idea to start a legal subscription service and to see what Ken thought of the idea. Ken immediately thought of the software industry where you pay a monthly or yearly fee to have access to the software programs. Why couldn’t this work for some basic legal services?

This year at the International Roofing Expo, Cotney Construction Law rolled out their game-changing subscription plans. Ken said that the service has really helped him and his business. Prior to these plans, Ken might have thought twice about having a contract reviewed because of being unsure what the cost would be. Now,the peace of mind that comes with having the legal service available for a fixed monthly cost has helped Kelly Roofing adequately budget for their legal expenses and ensure that they are  proactively protecting their business in all transactions.
