Sounds like I was wrong about the guy
He may not have a "ticket" or journeymans card, but he is a good carpenter. The basics and then some. I am a third generation union carpenter, and I admire his work, at least as I see it on tv. At least he knows how to swing a hammer and get it plumb; not at all like Bob Villa on TOH years back.
It is "entertainment" by the way and he has to put on the "show" as it were. I am just surprized at how much it costs to have him come in.
Hey, by the way, does it ever stop snowing in Canada? Every time I see one of his shows, there is snow on the ground Brrr.
50K is big bucks for someone who doesn't even have a Journeyman ticket. When my son competed in Skills Canada competition in P.E.I. in 2009, Holmes was supposed to judge the carpentry competition but they pulled him because he didn't have a ticket.
Channel 45 for us. HG tv. He is good at what he does, but like you said, his budget must be phenominal for what he does to the houses. That is $300.00 a sq foot stuff.
Holmes knows his stuff, but you have to wonder that if someone without the budget the tv series allows would really tear out as much as he does. Also, I have to wonder about his work outfit. All work except for the bling. I want to see the episode where the neck chain gets caught in the router.
What channel is your TV Show on?
It don't have much to do with knowledge. More about market positioning
